Jos. Schneider & Co Kreuznach Xenar 105 mm f/ 4.5 Review

The lens is assembled in the Compur shutter, has 10 aperture blades. Minimum aperture - 32. The design is anastigmatic 4 elements in 3 groups (Tessar).
Schneider is known for its quality manufacturing optics. This lens is not an exception; it is made in the best traditions of the firm. I was surprised by its quality, sharpness, contrast, plastic. The uncoated lens is an excellent performance.
I mount it to the Nikon camera using the focusing helicoid. Also, read How to Mount Large Format Lenses on DSLR Camera.
Jos. Schneider & Co Kreuznach Xenar 105 mm f/ 4.5 Sample Photos
All photos are taken on the Nikon D3100, at wide-open f/ 4,5. Tweaked levels in the RAW converter.
Bokeh like Tessar
Color reproduction is good, but when shooting backlit, colors are strongly distorted.
Pleasant soft effect for portraits
Example color distortion backlit, partly it happens when due correction contrast to the editor. It turns vintage color rendition, like Instagram filters.
Another example is backlit. Contrast greatly loosened in the RAW converter to bring the image back to normal. Chromatic aberration is not noticed.
Subjectively, I liked this lens. In comparison with other uncoated lenses has good quality.
