Nikon IX-Nikkor Lenses. Using features

I was sure that all lenses with Nikon F mount can be mounted on SLR Nikon camera. But it turned out that not all.

On the Internet markets and auctions, sometimes sell lenses with an name Nikon IX-Nikkor. They have autofocus, and have a electric contacts. And externaly they just can not be many differences from the others autofocus lenses Nikkor. But if you try to set these lenses on SLR camera Nikon, here and open their whole lowdown.

Nikon IX-Nikkor

The fact that they have a flange focal distance  substantially smaller than the Nikon F lenses, nevertheless bayonet is completely compatible. Externally, the rear lens has a larger projection than standard lenses.

Nikon Pronea S

Nikon IX-Nikkor lenses produced specifically for film cameras Nikon Pronea, which were issued at the end of the 90s. They were released only two: Nikon Pronea 6i / 600i and Nikon Pronea S. By the way, they are fully compatible with standard lenses Nikkor.

Nikon IX-Nikkor lenses was released only five, all zooms:
Nikon IX-Nikkor 1:3.5-5.6 20-60mm
Nikon IX-Nikkor 1:3.5-5.6 24-70mm
Nikon IX-Nikkor 1:3.5-5.6 24-70mm
Nikon IX-Nikkor 1:4-5.6 60-180mm
Nikon IX-Nikkor 1:4.5-5.6 60-180mm

It is available with black and silver design.

As is evident from the marking, the focal length is also uncharacteristic of a standard full frame lenses Nikkor. Because they are designed for a crappy film format 16.7 x 30.2mm which has a crop factor 1.435x.

If we talk about the optical characteristics of this lenses, most of them have modest rates. They are worse than standard Nikkor lenses.

Summary
Nikon IX-Nikkor lenses is not suitable for SLR-mount Nikon F. Mechanically they are fully compatible, but you may damage the camera mirror, because a this lenses have large rear projection.

They can be used except for a mirrorless cameras where flange distance is much less than the SLR cameras. Also worth noting is that these lenses are sold cheaper than standard Nikkor lenses.
